SMART GROWTH INITIATIVE GETS THE SIGs

By now you have probably heard that the Smart Growth Initiative sponsored by Costa Mesa 1st received enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot! The initiative received 6908 signatures, a significant 1900 or 38% more than required. The Registrar of Voters must now verify all the signatures before officially approving the initiative for the November ballot.

CM4RG endorsed this initiative. Some people do not favor the initiative process. We endorsed the initiative because we felt it was the only way to give some control back to our citizens from an-out-of control Council majority when it comes to development. Also, it should be noted, this ordinance, if passed, will apply to all future City Councils unless repealed by a subsequent vote of the people.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SIGNED, AND/OR ASSISTED IN THE GATHERING OF SIGNATURES.

Criticism has already started, so brace yourself for a tsunami of out-of -town money, distortions of the truth, unfounded criticism of supporters, and flat out lies from the opposition.

    You guys are great!
Too bad we can get an one for the slum
Landlords like tree house and solid whatever.
Between sober living and half way houses I feel this town is already lost.
Thank city council for your gross uncompetitence .
